Benner said she’s always been fascinated by light and color and how they play off each other. Morning, she explained, is her favorite time to paint.
For Benner, the ideal situation is to paint outdoors, plein air style.
“You see the color so much more than you do in a photograph,” she said. But just in case, she takes her own photos for those cold winter days when she can’t get out.
“I try to paint two or three days a week,” she added.
“I have a lot of Codorus,” she said, noting the state just bought more land that she can’t wait to explore once a road is built. “There are so many nooks and crannies” to the park.
Benner’s work can be seen during regular gallery hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.
In addition, Benner will be on hand at Art Downtown during Hanover’s Sip and Stroll 2-7 p.m. June 3 to talk with art
