December 18, 2019
As the holiday ramps up into full gear, we look to spend time over the next few weeks with loved ones reminiscing over the year soon to end and making plans for the one to come. Things are no different here at Main Street Hanover. We wanted to take this opportunity to share some things we are excited for in the new year!
McAllister Hotel & McAllister’s on York
Starting in early 2020, developer Jordan Ilyes will begin leasing his brand new project, the McAllister Hotel. These 30 market-based apartments will be the newest residential project in downtown Hanover, marking the first on it’s kind living option in the heart of downtown. Garnering even more excitement is the restaurant who has announced their intended 2020 arrival to York St., the Handsome Cab’s newest project, McAllister’s on York. This new dining experience will demonstrate a shift in dining options in downtown.
34 Frederick Street
Awarded a RACP grant by Gov. Wolf, this former Montgomery Ward building will get the transformation it deserves in 2020. This beautiful building will be renovated to include 13 market-based apartments and the first floor will have commercial options for retail and/or a restaurant. The new year looks bright for Frederick Street as the hope is this redevelopment project could lead to finally seeing some traction in eliminating blight on that street.
2020 2nd Saturday Events
2nd Saturday events grew exponentially in 2019 and we look forward to even more growth, and of course even more fun, in the new year! Events we all have grown to love like Main Street Mini-Golf and the Sip & Strolls will again draw hundreds downtown to shop and enjoy a uniquely downtown Hanover experience. Additions to the schedule like Sauce Boss Throwdown and a Hanover downtown Egg Hunt are going to excite community members and visitors of all ages!
Upon receiving IRS 501c3 designation in late 2018, Main Street Hanover set to work laying the foundation for a strong non-profit organization. And now in 2020 we are excited to be launching an extensive fundraising program to support the critical work we do in revitalizing downtown Hanover. From 2nd Saturday event sponsorship to large partnership giving, we are excited to connect with the community in a deeper way in 2020.
Tax credit funding opportunities – Neighborhood Assistance & Partnership Program
In an effort to continue to provide sustainability for our efforts, Main Street Hanover will look to apply for the NAP/NPP program to be able to provide tax credits for contributing to the Main Street program initiatives to eliminate blight. More details are to come, we look forward to sharing more information soon.
2020 is going to be a great year in downtown Hanover and we hope you’ll join us in supporting our efforts!
