May 22, 2019 – Main Street Hanover unveils new banners to honor our hometown heroes. Starting last year, Main Street Hanover invited the community to purchase banners to honor their friends and family who have served our country.

25 banners were purchased, representing all branches of service: 4 Air Force (including Air Force Reserves), 10 Army, 1 PA Army National Guard, 2 Marines and 8 Navy. Banners represent 5 active duty service members, 7 memorial banners and 13 veterans. Conflict participation includes World War II, Korean War, Cold War, Iraq & Afghanistan Operation Iraqi Freedom/ Operation Enduring Freedom, Kosovo and others.

Each banner lists the honoree’s name, branch of service, and the name(s) of the sponsors. All pole banners are be proudly displayed in the Borough of Hanover. Main Street Hanover and the Borough of Hanover, with the support of AARP of Pennsylvania are proud to have worked together on bringing this project to our community. The banners will be displayed from Memorial Day 2019 for a period of two years.
