Description

The Gallery at the Old Post Office is an art gallery located in the atrium of Hanover’s historic former post office, showcasing creative works and providing a unique cultural destination for the community. The gallery is curated and operated by Andrew T. Smith, a professional clay monoprint artist, grant navigator, nonprofit board member, and former public school music educator with 32 years of experience.
Through his artistic practice, Smith, known professionally through Visual Realia, is one of only a small number of professional clay monoprint artists in south-central Pennsylvania. His work has been featured in solo, group, and juried exhibitions throughout Pennsylvania and Maryland, including exhibits at Gallery @ 227, The Grotto, York’s Outdoor Country Club, and the Adams County Arts Council. His collaborative group exhibition, unentitled, was displayed at both the Adams County Arts Council in Gettysburg and Marketview Arts in York.
In 2024, Smith was selected as one of four leading clay monoprint artists featured in a major exhibition at the Chester County Art Association, highlighting 58 works focused on the unique medium. His clay monoprints explore the possibilities of the art form and have recently expanded into mixed-media creations.
While photography was once a primary focus of Smith’s artistic work, including a featured exhibition in the main gallery of the Adams County Arts Council in 2016, his current creative focus centers on the exploration and development of clay monoprinting.
The Gallery at the Old Post Office provides visitors with an opportunity to experience innovative artwork in a historic setting while celebrating local and regional artists. Through exhibitions, community engagement, and creative exploration, the gallery continues to contribute to Hanover’s growing arts and cultural scene.
