Main Street Hanover, Inc. receives Façade Grant Funding
Issued by: Main Street Hanover, Inc.
February 25, 2019 – Main Street Hanover, Inc. is proud to announce that our program is a recipient of $50,000 for our downtown Façade Grant Program from the Keystone Communities program administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). These funds will be granted to property or business owners to allow them to make exterior improvements to their buildings.
The Keystone Communities funding, which originates from $6.5 million available for competitive grant awards, will be used to improve about 10 building facades in Hanover. Applications from property owners wishing receive portions of the grant funding will be reviewed and funds will be awarded later this year. The last time Main Street Hanover received façade grant funding, we were able to leverage $106,000 of façade improvements in downtown Hanover from a grant award of $40,000.
“The community benefits by having a downtown with improved facades.” Justine Trucksess, Executive Director of Main Street Hanover says, “These improvements bring about additional private investment, new businesses, and a more visually-appealing downtown community core. The community impact of this program is a sign of the changes taking place in our downtown. It helps to build momentum for the movement. We are thrilled to open up another round of grants with this DCED Grant Award.”
The Main Street Hanover Design Committee will soon announce the opening of the program for applications on our website. Applications can be found there as well; check back for updates.
Main Street Hanover is a collaborative effort between the Borough of Hanover and the Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce. We are dedicated to expanding the economic capacity of downtown Hanover, thus improving the business environment, enhancing the quality of place, and increasing community synergy.
Our purpose is to stimulate downtown and neighborhood business revitalization in Hanover through organizing and encouraging cooperation and building leadership in the business community. We do this by creating a positive image for downtown Hanover through promotion of downtown Hanover as an exciting place to live, shop, and invest; improving the appearance of downtown Hanover; and receiving, administering, and distributing funds in connection with any activities related to the foregoing purposes.
