Main Street Hanover, Inc. receives IRS Designation

HANOVER, PA. – November 5, 2018 – Main Street Hanover, Inc. received official word on October 22nd that we were approved as a 501c3 organization by the IRS. The non-profit designation will open many doors for Main Street Hanover as we are able to expand our fundraising capabilities and create financial stability which will allow us to increase our ability carry out our mission of revitalization of Downtown Hanover.

In January, Main Street Hanover began the process of formalizing as a 501c3 organization under the leadership of a new Board of Directors. This transition began with the first meeting of the Board of Directors in January 2018. Upon approval of by-laws, Main Street Hanover applied for 501c3 designation with the IRS in March and began the transition of operations to a new formalized, locally managed and operated, non-profit organization.

“We are so excited to have reached this milestone in our transition. The coming year will be exciting for downtown and our entire Hanover Community, not only because of our ability to operate as a stand-alone non-profit organization but because of the incredible work we are excited to continue and major projects we expect to begin because of our advocacy and persistence,” says Executive Director of Main Street Hanover, Justine Trucksess. “We look forward to celebrating this success and more, as we grow the Main Street initiative and continue to impact our downtown community with the help of the business owners, mission stakeholders, dedicated volunteers, and our incredible Board of Directors that we are happy to formally announce today.”
